Visit the City of Langley on Whidbey Island
8/17/2005

A short 18 nautical mile boat trip from the Everett Marina to Langley is a stark contrast. Pulling in at the congested marina you need to get there early if you don't want to end up rafting (tieing on to other boats). The marina is full of friendly people, some come for the day, and some are there for the weekend, but all of them are there for what this small Whidbey Island town has to offer.

Just a short walk up the hill you find a village full of boutiques, pubs and cafes ready to serve.

On this day we tied up at the dock and walked over to Mike's Place Restaurant for a great breakfast before doing anything else.

We explored Langley's shopping village which is a typical collection of trendy yet quaint businesses. Don't be fooled though, as the owners and operators of these shops aren't so far removed from the upscale urban life. They do tend to cater to a broad range of visitors.

Moving on to "Circle Park" you'll discover a questionable yet interesting mix of outdoor artwork. It seemed to be a community effort to be sure.

A much more appealing mix of architecture and landscape is found at the "Inn at Langley". A very nice hotel, restaurant and spa.

Langley is a great seaside visit and a relaxing day away from the ordinary, and you really don't need a boat to get there, it's just more fun that way.
